Europe is very big. To make sure that everybody and everything can reach each other, Europe develops new technologies, transport systems and energynetworks.

Convergence
There are great differences in Europe. Think about rich and poor areas or developed and less developed countries. Money is needed to reduce these differences, to make Europe a unity.

Regional Competitiveness and Employment
There should be enough employment in all regions of Europe, to make sure that as many people as possible have jobs. Investments are aimed at improving the position of these regions and to make sure that they can participate in the world economy.

Environment
Clean air, clean water and a reduce of CO2 emissions is vital for all Europeans. That is why funds are needed to invest in protection of the environment, and to make sure that nature and species can live on without being endangered.

Agriculture and Fisheries
Agriculture is a main producer of food and other basic neccessities. Europe gives direct support to farmers. That support is an important part of the European Budget. Apart from that, there is attention for fisheries and prevention of overfishing.

Rural Development
The main part of the European continent consists of countryside. The European Union supports the development of these areas, by making sure that new companies and entrepeneurs can start businesses there and tourists visit these areas.

Culture, Media and Youth
The population of Europe is extremely diverse. To support this cultural diversity, Europe invests money in culture. But art and movies, activities for youth and free media is also supported by the EU.

Public Health and Consumer Protection
A healthy European population is vital for the development of the Union. Diseases are being prevented and citizens are being stimulated to do enough exercise and to eat healthily. Apart from that, people are being protected against unhealthy and unsafe products.

Security, Freedom and Migration
In Europe we are used to freedom and security. To protect these, constant investments are important, for example to guard the outer borders or to help (political) refugees.

Fundamental Rights and Justice
Cross border criminal activities and terrorism are better prevented with cooperation between different countries. In Europe, money is needed to ensure good cooperation, but also to exchange information like criminal records.

Development Cooperation and Humanitarian Aid
In the rest of the world, people are often less well off than most people in Europe. The EU supports development of those countries. Apart from that, when disaster strikes, the EU can help with Humanitarian Aid.

Democracy, Human Rights and Foreign and Security Policy
The world does not just consist of Europe, it is much bigger. It is important that things go well outside Europe too. That is why Europe supports a strive for peace, democracy and human rights in those areas.

Instrument for Mondial Stability
In certain parts of this world situations can be quite restless. Because of conflicts and other problems, people often hardly have any opportunities. The EU attempts to help solve these conflicts, and also attempts to support people in rebuilding their lives.

Administration
The European Union needs money to be able to work; money for governance, for the officials and for administration. But also to pay the translators who make sure everybody understands each other.
